Lil' Chris has been doing well. He didn't like any of those samples that the dietitian gave us. So, I called her and told her and she said to go ahead and get more formula and we'll figure something out eventually. She did say that she wants us to put butter or cream in his baby food to get more calories. Sounds gross to me, but we'll see I guess. I'm not really sure how to do it though. Do I melt it, or should I start buying the margarine so it is softer????? I usually buy the sticks and keep them in the fridge. She wasn't very specific. I may have to call her again to ask. I hate to be a pain though.
She also said she wants us to start putting the food we eat into a blender and feed it to him, since he won't eat the table food normally and because he only has 4 teeth. When we try to give him table food, he'll take it, but then keep it in his mouth for awhile until he gags on it or throws it up or spits it out. Weird???? Sometimes he will take some soft foods just fine though. So, we'll see how the butter thing goes and the blender thing goes. I'll let you know.
As for the pregnancy, I'm starting to feel a little bit better each day. THANK YOU LORD!!
Hope you have a nice weekend,
M
PS. Thank you honey for taking care of Lil' Chris and the house and food shopping and everything while I wasn't feeling well! You are the BEST HUSBAND EVER!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!

when adding butter you warm the food up a little and put the butter in and then mix it. Also try graham cracker crumbs to add calories. You can also make cheese sauce and add to babyfood veggies to beef up the calories.
another option for increase in calories for his bottles is to make them mixed with cream or half & half or even one of the sample things like for a 8oz bottle start with 6 oz formula and 2 oz something else and work up to 4 & 4 he might tollerate that better. Might be that the pedisure and stuff is too rich for him since he has digestive issues.
Great! Thanks for the great advice Lori! Duh, I don't know why I didn't think of warming his food first and then adding the butter. I guess I'm just not used to warming his food up :)

Ewww, it does sound gross to just add butter or cream to the baby food! But, if he is anything like his daddy, he'll very much enjoy the butter! Big C use to like to eat the butter! Now that's nasty!!! I hope you guys find an alternative for his formula. I take it he didn't throw up with the samples like he did with the pediasure, he just didn't want to drink it?
It's good to hear you are feeling better, little by little!
Sending love and hugs to everyone!
Hey M!! I'm glad you're feeling a little better! Don't worry about Lil C not liking the pureed food. It's pretty much the same thing you're feeding him out of a jar. One of my friends used to do that for her son b/c he didn't like baby food & he loved it. She would make a roast w/ veggies & puree some for him & he'd eat it like a champ. They're too little to know what's gross or not gross & anything with a little butter tastes good! =)
