CF Update

We got his throat culture test back, it is NORMAL!! YEA!! That make 2 or 3 in a row that were normal! Hopefully we can keep that good streak going!

I think maybe the whole runny nose was b/c he was teething. I don't know though, it was non-stop for the first couple of days though. The last couple of days it hasn't been nearly as bad. Thank God;)

He still has that lil' cough since that day we went to the clinic. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not. I wonder if I should call. He only does it once in a while. It's a pretty heavy cough though. Maybe the Vest makes him cough more? Can he even get another antibiotic so soon? He just got done one a week or 2 ago. Help me out moms, let me know:)

That's great news about the culture. It's not unusual for babies to have runny noses while cutting teeth. As for the cough, I always say, it doesn't hurt to ask.
You need to do whatever you feel is right for Lil Chris.
lots of love, hugs & kisses

Hi M, Wish I could give you easy answers:) Unfortunately it's a big part of the frustration that can come with this disease..."what's a good cough? What's a bad cough? How soon do I call? Is it really that bad? Why's that nose running?...." :) I think that a general rule is that if the cough lasts longer than a week, they want you to can in. (I've had many clinic visits that seemed good, only for the one of the girls to start coughing a day or two after!! It's very frustrating...I can't say whether the cough came from the clinic or elsewhere) As for the Vest...I think they would say that it should make him cough, because of breaking up any congestion... Like I said no real easy answers. If another mom out there has better answers I'd love to hear what they have to say. Janna is on her vest now. She started a nasty cough during the saline this morning. She wasn't coughing at all yesterday. Going to have to work on her moving that congestion out... Have a good day:-) Susanna

Hi M,
Susanna was so right. Why can't their be a book that tells exactly what to do?! It sure would be nice. The clinic always told me that after 5 days, to call. Even if he is only coughing a couple of times a day. They may put him on another antibiotic, they just rotate them. It doesn't matter if he just got off them. During the winter, I swear Daniel spends more time on them then off.
We had our great strides walk yesterday. The weather stunk. It was raining and the wind was strong. But Daniel's team raised over $1900! We left before they said how much the whole walk raised but it was a great event. I really hope we can pull a walk together here. Chris and I were brainstorming during the drive. I'll email you some ideas. Let us know what happens with the cough. Daniel's Mom

Wish I could give you some good advice M! The only thing I can say on the runny nose deal is that it sounds like a little cold. Usually when their noses run non-stop for the first few days & then get goopy after that it's a cold & not their teeth. At least in my experience with the kiddies. If you're in doubt about his cough though, it never hurts to call!!

Hi M & C, The videos were great! His laugh was so cute! I watched them by myself, so I have to show the rest of the family, the kids will love watching Chris. That's so exciting that he has another tooth, and that he was up on all fours(for only you to see) :) Hopefully Lil Chris' runny nose and cough will go away soon! My 2 little guys both have runny noses and bad coughs right now, due to their allergies & asthma! Some days are worse than others. Well, have great day and hugs & kisses to Lil Man!
